Digital printing can be carried out in both black and white and full-colour work. It is also viable to have full-colour covers and B&W contents (so called 'mixed-mode' printing). For technical literature, mixed-mode printing has many advantages, including smaller upfront costs, less storage requirements and most importantly, changes can be economically made to the contents if necessary. Although there are some proven systems for digital printing, there are some limitations and newer systems are coming online all the time.
